This daily design challenge was to design a landing page. The landing page should briefly describe what the website is about. It should also have a call to action and a clear path forward for the user.
I kept the design simple and clean, with one main button letting visitors know they will be entering the website and beginning a process.
The "call to action" hints that the step beyond the welcome page may take a little bit of time, or require more from the visitor. In this case the user's first task will be to select books they've enjoyed in the past. This is so that the online book club/archive can recommend future reads.
In addition there is a small book icon in the top right corner. Curious users might click on it and reveal the "book of the day". The fun and whimsical nature of this feature lets users know the attitude of the web page without even having to enter the site. And if users ignore the icon, it doesn't clutter or interfere with the overall design.
